June 30, 2011 - PRLog -- It has just been announced that the 2nd annual Women in Green Forum will be held on August 30th and 31st at the Sheraton Delfina, a 4-star luxury hotel in Santa Monica, California. The Forum promises to showcase women who have made an impact on the environmental industry, companies with innovative strategies for sustainability, and the newest green products and services.
The 2010 Women in Green Forum marked the Forum’s inaugural year and featured speakers from Fortune 500 companies, top government posts, leading academic institutions, and successful small businesses who spoke on topics ranging from Green Building to Eco Fashion. Notable Forum speakers included California State Senator Fran Pavley, actress and activist Gloria Rueben, General Motors’ Director of Global Energy Systems & Infrastructure Comm. Britta K. Gross, and Wal-Mart’s Director of Store Operations & Sustainability Vonda Lockwood. In addition to presentations from these inspiring female leaders, the Forum invited attendees to an exhibition of the latest green products and services. The first annual Women In Green Forum successfully brought together over 400 leaders in sustainability, emerging as the nation’s largest conference for women in environmental careers.
While the 2011 Women in Green Forum will touch on many similar topics as the the 2010 Forum, this year‘s change of venue will offer attendees a more intimate setting, with meetings held steps from the beach in a penthouse ballroom overlooking both the ocean and the mountains. Building on the success of 2010, it will offer skill-building sessions and clean vehicle test-drives in addition to traditional panels and keynote sessions.
In line with the Forum’s theme, the Sheraton Delfina was chosen as the 2011 venue because of its ability to combine luxury with sustainability. The hotel’s “Second Nature” initiative promotes environmentally friendly practices and made it Santa Monica’s first Green-Certified luxury hotel by the Green Business Certification Program. The Delfina received this honor due to its commendable efforts to reduce its carbon footprint and environmental impact. Among its greening initiatives, the Sheraton Delfina boasts perks for guests driving hybrid vehicles or traveling on public transportation and promotes the use of bicycles for daily outings.
“We are thrilled to be able to hold the Forum at a location that is accessible by public transportation and is demonstrating its dedication to reducing its environmental impact,” says Jaime Nack, President of TSI and Director of the Women in Green Forum. “This venue will provide the right atmosphere to encourage networking and relationship building among attendees.”
The Women in Green Forum is produced by Three Squares Inc. (TSI), a nationally recognized firm that specializes in environmental business consulting and event production. Some of TSI’s recent projects include the greening of the Inception movie premier and the Comedy Central Rally to Restore Sanity. Working to promote women in the environmental arena, TSI operates under the leadership of President Jaime Nack, who recently received a federal appointment to serve a three-year term on the National Women's Business Council and was named a 2011 Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum.
