At the CoolCalifornia.org Small Business Awards ceremony held in Sacramento on June 13th, the California Air Resources Board (ARB) presented Three Squares Inc. (TSI) with a CoolCalifornia Business of the Year Award. The Santa-Monica based environmental consulting firm was one of the first woman-owned small businesses to receive this award. The award was presented to TSI representative Carolina Leonhardt by ARB Executive Officer James Goldstene in a ceremony held at the ARB headquarters building in Sacramento. This was the second CoolCalifornia.org Small Business Award presented to TSI (Climate Leader Award was presented in 2011), and it serves as a symbol of the company’s standing as a leader in the environmental industry with everyday operations that match its mission.
“It is a high honor to be recognized by the California Air Resources Board and California Environmental Protection Agency as a 2012 Business of the Year,” said Jaime Nack, President and Founder of Three Squares Inc. "As an environmental consulting firm, it is our goal to lead by example and follow the highest standards of sustainability in our daily operations as well as in our projects, whether we are producing an environmental conference or advising clients on sustainability strategies."
The CoolCalifornia Small Business award program was established in 2009 by the California Air Resources Board to honor small California businesses that have incorporated initiatives to reduce their environmental impact and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. TSI was one of 4 businesses selected for this honor from throughout the state.
The California Air Resource Board is an entity of the California Environmental Protection Agency and works to reduce air pollutants and greenhouse gas emissions levels in California. Among its responsibilities are establishing and enforcing air quality standards and regulation, conducting research, and monitoring air quality.
