Aug. 20, 2010 - PRLog -- City Controller Wendy Greuel will be featured as a presenter at the Women In Green Forum – a two-day conference scheduled for September 1-2 at the Pasadena Convention Center. The Forum will highlight leaders in sustainability and provide opportunities for women entering green careers to network with industry pioneers. Controller Greuel was selected to speak at the highly anticipated event due to her demonstrated commitment to promoting clean water, clean energy and clean air within the City of Los Angeles.
“It is an honor to participate in the first annual Women In Green Forum,” said Controller Greuel. “The Forum discussions on sustainability and renewable energy are a valuable opportunity for collaboration towards our goals of improving our air and water quality.”
Among other notable achievements, Controller Greuel has directed the Department of Water and Power to increase the portion of their power produced by renewable energy to 20% by 2017 and used Proposition K funding to create the sixth largest park in the City of Los Angeles.
“Los Angeles is home to innovative leaders like Controller Greuel who are driving change throughout the environmental and political landscape,” said Jaime Nack, Executive Director of the Women In Green Forum and President of Three Squares Inc., an environmental consulting firm. “The Forum’s mission is to bring these trailblazers together to create a community of women inspiring future generations toward environmental career paths.”
Controller Greuel will moderate a plenary discussion at the Women In Green Forum between three fellow leaders in clean technology financing. Panelists will include Fran Seegull, Managing Director at Funk Ventures; Sandy Itkoff, Senior Vice President of the Angeleno Group; and Heather McCormick, Board Member of the Pasadena Angels. The panel has created a buzz as it is the key session which will allow attendees to gain insights into how to succeed in financing their own clean technology ventures.
The two-day event will also focus on topics such as green building, energy efficiency, clean transportation, renewable energy, organic food and beverage, eco fashion, environmental media, waste diversion, natural health/beauty, urban planning, and waste diversion. The Forum is the largest national conference for women in environmental careers. For more information, please seehttp://www.womeningreenforum.com.
