On Thursday, March 21, 2013, Women In Green Forum Founder and Three Squares Inc. President Jaime Nack and an audience of entrepreneurs, academics, policymakers and business leaders heard from Environmental Protection Agency Administrator nominee Gina McCarthy and other senior White House officials at the 2nd Annual White House Women & the Environment Summit.
Following McCarthy's remarks, Nack was invited to participate in a breakout session focused on encouraging more women to enter environmental STEM or eSTEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) career paths. Other concurrent sessions focused on "Healthy and Sustainable Communities," "Economy and the Environment," and "Environmental Messaging and Education."
The Summit successfully attracted the nation's top women environmental leaders to the White House and highlighted women’s integral role in developing solutions to combat many of today's most pressing environmental challenges. It also underlined the Obama Administration’s efforts to encourage women to actively participate in all sectors of the environmental industry as the nation moves toward a low carbon economy.
In addition to participating in the White House Summit on Women & the Environment, Nack (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jaime_Nack) is involved in many activities that promote women in leadership. She is the Founder of the Women In Green Forum, an international conference series highlighting women’s impact on the environmental arena, and serves as a Council Member on the National Women's Business Council (http://www.nwbc.gov). During the Summit, the announcement was made that the Women In Green Forum was expanding its reach to the East Coast with its scheduled debut in Washington, D.C. in September, 2013.
